NICK MADDOX
"Nicholas Maddox, the pitcher whom the Kansas City Blues of the American Association got from the Pittsburgh Pirates, is not yet 25 years old, having been born in Maryland in November 1886. He started playing with independent teams when he was a lad, and when only 18, pitching for Easton, led the twirlers of the Eastern Shore League.
After getting a little experience with the Providence and Wheeling clubs, he started with the Pirates late in 1907. In 1908 he was the best of all their pitchers and was fourth in the league."
